Variables

While modules can represent the resources and actions on a system, the variables represent the dynamic part of the change. Variables can be used to modify the behavior of the modules.

Variables can be defined from the environment of the host, for example, the hostname, IP address, version of software and hardware installed on a host, and so on.

They can also be user-defined or provided as part of a module. User-defined variables can represent the classification of a host resource or its attribute.
